Marilyn Monroe

For a couple personally illusive reasons, my latest painting (of which I pretend I can take credit for; FYI I'm a
walking pillar for counterfeit originality (See: Everything i've ever painted)) was an obstinate pick.

First of all, i'm far too naive and not quite dexterous enough to appreciate B&W paintings.  Mostly due to the irony of the concept, I think. Reference, Pocahontas. She didn't advise we Paint with only the colors of the asphaltAs far as i'm concerned the colors of the wind extend beyond ROYGBIV, and certainly surpass those reflective of salt and pepper. I'm just trying to be a Disney Princess here.

Secondly, I have never been a huge Marilyn Monroe fan. Pun intended. Why? Not sure really, probably because she's blond.
Catty, right? But fur real... When you're a 6th grade girl what else can you possibly have in common with famous, dead or alive, glamazons in the media besides a couple private parts and hair color?
Her, Barbie, Baby Spice, Christina Aguilar, Gwen, and all the other Golden Bombshells have their own crowd to please.
But, there's something about this tri-tone, Warhol  style that I am starting to loveI liked this picture and I love this style.
It only took about 3 days, which is very unusual for me.

Quick Life update: I'm now living in Houston and
working at Laura U, Inc. An interior design firm!
I love my job. I miss college, but only for my friends.
I don't miss school, studying, spirals, binders, or any of that.

Summer update

If you're new in town and haven't heard,
I love Pinterest.
So yes, this is definitely inspired by
one of the DIY's I found recently.
I love the color, it's fixed up a bit more after this photo
was taken, but meh, you get the idea.

Wedding art?!

Nathan & Courney - June 23, 2012
Believe it or not.. someone actually wanted me to paint them something for their wedding
Oh, I was shocked as well. This is one of those newly popular
"thumb print attendance tree's"
that are sold on etsy and elsewhere.

I will admit I used sharpie and even printed out a template for their names and the date. The rest is acrylic.
